He was going to throw it out but I couldn't let that happen. Like you mentioned, it has some scratches and patina on the hardware but worst of all is the skin is toasted - completely shredded. I'm looking for a place where I can get a replacement skin for this. This would be the starting point of cleaning it up and getting marginally refurbished. Can someone put me in contact with a specialist? Thanks! There was no label on the congas, they were painted black and had a few scratches. definitely old congas. Is there anyway to verify if these are old Gon Bops and if they're actually worth buying/anything? I have a few pictures if it helps. thanks.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-90059995901631394152014-09-10T07:22:37.569-07:002014-09-10T07:22:37.569-07:00I don't remember the exact name of the conga, ...I don't remember the exact name of the conga, it was made in the Phillipines.Rumba Instrumentshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02931147982666537077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-12847884725852058672014-09-09T22:44:21.277-07:002014-09-09T22:44:21.277-07:00Hey, I would like to know what brand the conga bel...Hey, I would like to know what brand the conga below the 3 LP fiberglass congas is please?
CheersAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-2362028679862851472014-09-09T22:43:17.295-07:002014-09-09T22:43:17.295-07:00Hey, what brand is the conga below the 3 LP fiberg...Hey, what brand is the conga below the 3 LP fiberglass congas?
Cheers!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-36624722359424263002013-12-09T07:42:48.449-08:002013-12-09T07:42:48.449-08:00The Rhythm Traders went there a few years back, yo...The Rhythm Traders went there a few years back, you might try and call them about it.
http://galleries.rhythmtraders.com/2013/01/21/road-trip-cuba/Rumba Instrumentshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02931147982666537077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-57687418571035834862013-12-09T04:48:06.428-08:002013-12-09T04:48:06.428-08:00Could someone tell me if the Sonocs factory still ...Could someone tell me if the Sonocs factory still exists? Absolutely it would. I don't know of any drum maker that do that. Guitar makers don't either. As for the best varnish, they are all probably about the same. Water based polyurethane is convenient for the clean up and less smell.

Good luck on the refurbish.Rumba Instrumentshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02931147982666537077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-56292382251719884732011-02-06T14:46:46.661-08:002011-02-06T14:46:46.661-08:00Whats the best varnish to use on my wooden congas ...Whats the best varnish to use on my wooden congas which I am refurbishing. They currently have a satin finish but I am thinking of a high gloss would it affect the sound if the inside of the drum was varnished to some extent.Paul Arthur Bertram Alsophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14936318841780782401noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8258429371043827973.post-79537109661412526202010-05-22T03:15:36.702-07:002010-05-22T03:15:36.702-07:00Do you have any information on vintage Gon Bops go...Do you have any information on vintage Gon Bops gongas?
